I've never done any of the custom stuff, just played the campaign but it works quite well. It looks like he might be making a return though which is great news for gamers because the guy is a badass. He turned 'em down because modding is just a fun pastime for him but, sadly, didn't have time to create experiences for Dragon Age due to family. He was one of the many top-notch NWN modders who was good enough to be offered jobs by Bioware and other game studios. The two expansions get better kudos than NWN2's first campaign, but the mod community blows 'em both away.ĭefinitely play any mods made by Adam Miller. I was too busy playing WoW and other games to jump into NWN2 (dabbled a bit with a friend's copy), but most people have similar comments about that sequel. Like Quake huge with enough mods and tweaks to last you for years of gameplay. I was a huge junkie for the original Neverwinter Nights and while people differ in opinion over the stock campaign, the mod community was freakin' huge. At the same time, you can get really gonzo with metagaming/roleplaying if you feel the urge to become a god instead of a mere hero. If that sounds intimidating, don't sweat it, except for a brief encounter as a kid, I never played DnD and still found Neverwinter Nights easy to cope with. The ruleset is a dumbed-down, yet still deep version of Dungeons and Dragon's 3.5 ruleset.
From a gameplay standpoint, it's similar to Baldur's Gate or other squad based rpgs. TL: DR - game is a steal at this price and the mod community is incredible.ĭetails: NWN2 is something of a resources hog relative to it's graphical fidelity, but any computer built since around 2009 should handle it with little trouble.
